I started taking Celexa 20mg (generic citalopram, its a lot cheaper) The first week of August this year. I was diagnosed with Major Depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I take it once a day at night (with food to diminish any possible gastrointestinal side effects). I am feeling 100% better than I did just a few months ago. Have had terrible side effects getting used to the meds. I have panic disorder and it made it so much worse the first two weeks I was on meds. I now have to take one Ativan with Celexa in the morning in order to avoid major panic feelings. Doc says it will get better with time and higher dosage. I have been on it two weeks today and we are increasing dosage tomorrow. Hopefully that will make the panic feeling go away. Also noticed crazy crazy nightmares!

I was hospitalized with severe depression and anxity. I was suicidal. I was put on 40mg. I felt much better after 3 weeks but was still dealing with anxiety. The psychiatrist just raised my dose to 60mg which I have been on for about a week. I am waiting to see if it helps.

I was on prozac for years. I was scared to make a change of meds, today I am sooooo glad I did. I feel like a new person. If your doctor or you feel it might be time to make a change, try this!!!

Celexa has been effective for me. I've noticed mild sexual side effects (e.g. diminished drive) but nothing prohibiting. I'm glad it helps my depression!

I feel great when I am taking my meds. However I lack sexual drive and it has put some stain on my relationship with my husband.

The only side effect has been the decrease in sexual sensation and satisfaction. Previously tried Paxil, which had the same side effect plus insomnia to boot. The sexual side effects are frustrating and I don't think anyone has a real solution for it.
