First 30 days stopped the need to urinate at night, and improved flow. I did experience back pain, reduced sex drive, and some depression. The last 6 months I only take it every third day with fewer side affects. I am 65 years old

After about the first 3 days on .4mg twice a day, no ejaculation, followed by low to no sex drive. After a month there was no noticeable changes in my very slow "dribbling" urine flow and I still get up 3-5 times a night to urinate but I'm also diabetic. Orgasm, if I could have one, is about 50% of 100.I seem to be back to normal after I stopped taking it about 10 days. I've always had back pain but it may have been worse on Tamsulosin as a little dizziness when standing. Also a stuffy nose as I have allergies and live down a dusty dirt road so I can't be sure of the last 3 side effects being related to this medication.Read More Read Less

Been on this for 6 years. Helped in the beginning to initiate a stream, still getting up 1-2x at night. Had a TURP (Prostatectomy) 2 months ago. Still on the medication. SEVERE issues with urgency since the surgery. Have to wear depends even at home. Soaked myself numerous times. Afraid to go out. NO sex drive at all. Also have Pyrone's syndrome. No semen comes out if we try, can't maintain an erection for more than 5 minutes, no sensation during sex, no climax. I'm trying an experiment. Stopped the medication, been 3 days, no changes.Read More Read Less

Constant runny nose and sinus congestion. No sex drive and no semen. Tired all the time and hard time sleeping for more than a couple of hours. Taking .04 at bedtime. Not happy with the results.

Completely useless in my case. If anything, the urge to pee has gotten worse with tamsulosin, because it makes it easier for urine to flow quickly to the urethra. No side effects other than I haven't been sleeping as well since trying it (I wake up to pee every two hours with or without tamsulosin), but I think that the drug causes me to sleep less deeply - who knows. I've been taking 0.8/day, btw; Two every morning around 10:00 AM, and 1/2 hour after eating like you're supposed to. I'm 63 now; When I finally hit 65 maybe I can talk Medicare into carving a hunk out of my prostate gland; That procedure is too damned expensive for me with my current lousy insurance. Meanwhile, I'm just gonna live with BPH, and without Tamsulosin. Don't let me dissuade you from trying, but don't get your hopes up - This ain't no magic bullet. Good luck, guys.Read More Read Less

I was on rapaflo for 25 days due to difficulty voiding. Switched to tamsulosin due to the former not being covered by medical plan ($222 vs $4.17 per quarter, huge difference). No dizziness, mild tiredness, sore testes at beginning but improved daily. Retrograde ejaculation for first week, bu now back to normal!! Guys, you need to give any medication a chance. Practice makes perfect lol. The clinical studies show tamsulosin isn't QUITE as good as silodosin for urine flow (but still effective) and has a far lower incidence of ejaculation problems. A bargain at twice the price, I am now very happy!Read More Read Less

Having been diagnosed with a "significantly enlarged prostate" 4 years ago, the urinary symptoms were getting worse. In addition, had a fluctuating PSA ranging from 4.8 to 16 which necessitated a prostate MRI which confirmed the enlarged size of the prostate but absolutely no cancer. About a month ago, it became extremely difficult to urinate first thing in the morning. Mentioned that to my urologist and he recommended starting the Tamsulosin to see if it helped. Took 2 days and the stream improved significantly. Did have to take it easy standing or getting out of bed as it does add lightheadedness. The odd thing that happened was an increase in bulk of my penis and improved sexual ability and more firm erections without the use of sildenafil. It was not priapism. Having said that, retrograde ejaculation did show up about the same time. Odd feeling to say the least but will settle for ejaculating backwards to have all the other conditions. Oddly enough my wife didn't complain about no ejaculate as there is no mess upon ejaculation!!! Not sure if the retrograde ejaculation will eventually correct itself but time will tell. Overall, the symptoms listed in the side effects are accurate but the benefit far outweighs the side effects for us. Read More Read Less

I tried twice to take medicine and had bad experience with this drug. Caused my heart rate to increase from normal 72 to 94-109. Made me feel real nervous and no appetite. Also, increased the number of times had to go to bathroom at night. Could not see any real improvement in the pee stream or cutting the number of times I go to the bathroom at night. Too many side affects. Will not use this product. Shame people can't afford Flomax and insurance companies won't approve instead of this junk.Read More Read Less

Have been on for about a month. At first, urination was improved through out the day. Improved flow. Some dizzy. Reduced concentration ability ... makes you a little bit foggy. Stuffy nose. Biggest side effect is ichy all over. I take one in the AM and then get ichy early evening and more so through the night. I am going to discontinue for a few days to see what comes side effects continue or disappear.
