After 3 weeks of daily 600mg: complete loss of taste!!! My goodness - why isn't there anyone mentioning this (rare) side effect??? On German websites it occurs. I hope it comes back again! I took a German product - it's not on the list below...

I have taken 600 for several years and do believe that it helps, I have had type 2 diabetes for 12 years. It does have the side effect of giving your urine a strong odor as it works through your system.

After taking Alpha Lipoic Acid for several years, I developed a lump on my neck that my dermatologist and primary care doctor couldn't explain. It's sitting on a lymph node and makes removing it more complicated. The doctors told me to just watch it and if it got larger to let them know. In the meantime, I saw a hint that ALA could cause tumors. After that, I stopped taking it. Within a year's time the tumor has reduced in size dramatically, but it's still there. I get two IV'S a week of 800mg of ALA Made by Mcguff compounding pharmacy services, inc.given in 50 cc of 5% dextrose solution dripped at a rate of ond drip per second. I had tingling and numbness in my arms and legs for four months, read about ALA on the internet and started taking the suppliment four days ago and already my symptoms have greatly improved.

My podiatrist suggested I take this for my foot neuropathy (not associated with diabetes)2 years ago. The muscle cramps and foot pain lessened considerably. I ran out and forgot to buy more. I have been taking ALA for 3 days when I started to notice hives that would come and go and then joint pain and discoloration. Once I stopped using ALA, the symtoms disappeared in 2 days.

i take 80 mg of diovan and experienced shortness of breath and hives
