My last Migraine lasted 5 days. Because I do not like the way narcotics make me feel, and few of them help enough to be worth the side effects, I usually have just gone to bed, taking over the counter sleep meds and lots of Excedrin praying no one would flip on the lights without thinking! The 5 day migraine forced me to go to the ER. After a shot Tordadol, several intrusive tests, and finally a...

My migraines are complicated by damage to two branches of the trigeminal nerve on the side of my face more affected by migraines. I have taken Fiorinal C1/4 only as needed for migraine for twenty-five years. I know that for me it almost invariably works in ninety minutes by the clock. A number of other meds including several Triptans completely failed to relieve the pain. Fiorinal C1/4 is the only med that has ever had any affect on my migraines so I worry that it may disappear from the market as the generics that used to be available as lower cost alternatives have both been discontinued by the manufacturers. Had a concussion and had horrible headaches that would wake me up in the middle of the night. Nothing would take the pain away. The doctor prescribed Fioricet and it worked. The only side effect I experienced was a bit of dry mouth. Other than that it is great!

I have been taking this drug for years with much success. As of today, the PA that I have been seeing will no longer prescribe them, as he claims this medication is causing the headaches. I asked what other drug could I take, his response was nothing.

Have taken since 1985 in combo w/Imitrex for migraine. If I can catch the start (damaged nerve lower occipital) with 2 fioricet, I don't need Imitrex. If I can't, the combo 2 Fioricet 1 Imitrex is all that works (with icepacks -- if I failed at catching at stage 2). Taking Fioricet for more than 3 days continuously is NOT good. I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm 8 months ago. As a result, I now suffer from fairly intense headaches. My NeuroSurgeon started me on Fioricet in the hospital shortly before being discharged in an effort to wean me off of the hard painkillers I was on. It worked like a charm! Now, even though I still get some bad headaches, this medicine really helps cut through the pain and pressure. I haven't noticed any side effects either.

I've had migraine headaches since I was a young child. Doctors have prescribed all sorts of medications. Most of the time the Fioricet works. Other times, with severe migraines, I also take Phenergan to stop nausea and vomiting. The combination is very effective once the Phenergan takes effect.

This medication comes in a capsule and tablet. I have only used the tablet at 50mg. I am allergic to any "Sumatriptan" type drug so when I was offered this medication years ago, I was skeptical. I am not able to tell when I am about to have an attack. This medication works pretty well for me. I have no complaints and no other side effects to report. I can take this with out without food and my stomach is not strong by any means. I would recommend this to anyone!

I've been taking fioricet for my migraines for five months now. The first time I took it, It almost completely relieved my pain, but did cause me to feel extremely blurry, tired, sick to my stomach, and only be able to eat a few very bland foods for a week. Each time after that, both the side effects and effectiveness of the drug have decreased more and more. Doesn't work super well anymore, but It's the only thing that helps at all. Not sure about others, but for me I have to take it in a quiet, dark room alone, otherwise it doesn't do anything. Read More Read Less

I liked when this pill came in capsule form but a while back it was changed to tablets. The tablets worked fine but just took longer to take effect. Recently received "blue" tablets and was assured it was same pill just different pharmaceudical company. I don't know why, but these blue ones don't seem to work at all. When I got new perscription, I went to a different pharmacy to get the white ones back and they are working fine.

I have had problem with tension headaches for years. I worked for a doctor when I was first diagnosed, and have used Fioricet ever since. I also find that if you get bad sinus headaches that won't go away, take the medication for them, and one fioricet and lay down, preferably for a nap. Upon wakening, the headache is usually totally gone. I personally prefer the Fioricet without codeine unless you really need it. I guess because codeine has the opposite effect on me, and causes me to be hyper instead of relaxed. Then it's like having two narcotics fighting each other. Fioricet is a great drug to have around, but it does often make me sleepy. So I recommend first time users ensure you can lay down if needed, the first few times you use the Fioricet. Hope this helped.Read More Read Less

Lately I have been getting really bad migraine headaches and I have tried everything that I could think of. So one day I got up after having this migraine for 3 days and after I woke up I couldn't see out my left eye my vision was so blurry and I knew then I had to go to the ER. The doctor tried everything and nothing helped, he then said he had one more option and that was to try Fioricet and I took it and it worked! I was so happy, it felt like weight have been lifted off my head and I told my primary care physician and he proscribed them for me and they have been a heaven sent!Read More Read Less

When extreme pain persists, this takes the top edge off, w/o effecting my driving or mental capabilities. For some reason, my dr prescribed 1X a day. There have been times a 2nd may have helped a lot, but I didn't take it.

I'm 41 and ended up in the hospital with a tension migraine. I couldn't treat it myself and after 4 days I couldn't open my eyes and started vomiting. The wonderful doctor treated me with fioricet and I found this treatment to be very effective. I have tried so many different things like ice therapy, but this by far has worked wonders for me. I am very grateful. :)

I have migraines, but they have an underlying cause (scar tissue in a vein in my head). I used Fioricet for the first year or two as a rescue. It worked for a while and then it stopped. In the beginning it made me loopy. I didn't take it terribly often, so I was surprised that I developed a tolerance for it so quickly. It stopped making me loopy and eventually stopped working altogether.

I have been diagnosed with cervical cancer and the pain is severe where I'm squirming on the floor needing to go to the ER, but Fioricet along with Gabapatent work hand in hand and I am 100% pain free. This medicine goes directly to my nerve endings and all pain is gone. I wish the Cancer would be gone as well.
