I am a chronic pain suffer for over 20 years. Last 5 yrs spent taking oxycontin, percocet & lortab on top of celebrex. I have had 9 surgeries in 12 years and my pain is from arthritis and true nerve damage in my neck and low spine. This drug is doing wonders for my pain. I am starting on the 50mg 6x a day like everyone else. Today is a month of treatment and I have noticed far less pain. I guess...

It clearly helps with break through pain. Also, it works well with my spinal cord stimulator.

I have chronic daily migraines that migraine-type medication does not respond to..at all. Nucynta works pretty well for me, I take 100 mg x5 times a day. I've been taking it for at least a year and a half to two years. I think it's usually effective and doesn't seem to have any long term side effects.

I've been on this medicine for a little over a month now, and compared to the ultram and anti-inflamatories I've been on for 7 years, it really has helped. I do have some wierd side effects i.e. wierd dreams, dizziness, etc. all of which have started to subside, and now it's just relief.

I have tried many pain medications over the years for the pain from Fibromyalgia. Nucynta works well with other medicines I take. It fights the pain for about 6 hours and then I can take more. That works for me.

I was prescribed Nucynta after shoulder surgery after I couldn't tolerate the nausea resulted from the codeine based pain meds originally prescribed. These worked well with min side effects (some dizziness)to control the post op pain. I would ask for this again if I ever needed pain control as it worked much better with fewer side effects than the codeine products usually given to me.

I have been on Nucynta ER for over 2 years. I still have to take Nurco for breakthrough pain. I have pain from failed back surgery and fibromyalgia. In the past I have had issues with taking Opiats, a lot of itching. Nucynta works pretty well for my stationery pain with few side effects. I have issues with sweating and the constipation but am ok with it. I would rather have these than the itching issues. I take Norco for breakthrough pain which happens if I have to do pretty much anything. All in all I have been satisfied with this drug. Read More Read Less

I've suffered with chronic knee pain for the last several years. I had my first knee surgery at the age of 12 so now at 50 I have nothing left in the joint but bone & pain. I was taking Vicodin but became uneffective so instead of increasing my dosage they switched me to this drug. It works great & I'm able to function on it very well. I don't have any side effects from it except for the occasional drowsy feeling. It has been a life saver for me. The only negative is it's a VERY expensive medication & when you take 120 per month it runs you $450 if no insurance. I have insurance but thanks to our current situation I have a high deductible so until that is met everything is out of pocket!!Read More Read Less

I live with chronic pain, and as the pain has become increasingly resistant to oxycodone, the new pain management clinic prescribed Nucynta 100mg, 1 pill, every 12 hours. I had very high hopes for this treatment, but 40 minutes after taking the first dose I felt like I was going insane. I tried breathing exercises to calm myself, but when I closed my eyes I saw explosions of color like fireworks, which changed to flashes of very disturbing images. This only increased my fear. I found that I could not think, or speak clearly. I also could not walk straight, and fell on my way to bed. Instead of sleeping, it felt like I was hallucinating all night, and not in a pleasant way. So I was exhausted in the mornings. I found it nearly impossible to function at work, although the symptoms were somewhat lesser during the morning dose, than the evening. I tried every trick I knew to convince myself it was just a drug, and the side effects would abate, I just had to keep at it. After the 14th dose (day 7) I called the pain clinic, and asked how long it was going to take for it to get better. I was instructed not to take any more of it. (what a relief!) Pain relief was excellent, but I would rather be in pain than ever take this drug again. It was a very frightening week. I don't know what they will prescribe next, I'll find out tomorrow.Read More Read Less

I took Nucynta for 2 and half months after breaking my humerous and became severely depressed and agitated. Within a few days of stopping the drug I returned to normal, thank God. I hate this drug and would never recommend it.

Nucynta has been a miracle drug for me. I took it for almost a year for pain associated with Fibromyalgia. I was prescibed two a day and most of the time didn't have to take the second pill. The pain was almost gone and I was able to do things I hadn't done in a very long time. The medicine was prescribed by my NP and when the doctor realized it said no way would he have prescribed it for my pain. I was shocked and I cried. It was the first time in 15 years I had any relief from the constant pain I was in. I had taken Darvocet until it was taken off the market. Most opiods cause me to itch. I now take Norco and deal with the itching and stomach upset. The doctor simply wouldn't listen to me and refused to prescribe the Nucynta.Read More Read Less

I cant rate this, as I just came home from Drs office and have not filled the perscription yet. I was reading the comments and need yo know if it is safe to take. I have been on Lortab on and off for over 20 yrs. I recently had my 13th back surgery and have issues with my psoas muscle from this, but also have neuropathy long standing. I have a very high toletence for pain and never wanted a stronger med. You have to learn to bite the bullet or risk becoming addicted. Thankfully I have never had a problem. But this psoas muscle pain with the neuropathy is way to much this time around. I'm afraid to try it. I have an intolerance with dilaudid, morphine etc. I don't even know if my insurance will cover this. Any sugggestions on first time effects would be appreciated. My Dr stopped the lyrica now that this drug also helps nerve pain. The less meds your on, the better off you are. If I can get a response in the next few days (it will probably take that ling for approval) I would be grateful. Read More Read Less

I suffer from severe Fibromyalgia and Nucynta is the only drug I have found that relieves ( well alleviates the pain. My prescription calls for me to take it every 6 hours, there have been days where one in the morning and one near bedtime works out great for me. This medication has basically been a life saver. I tried Lyrica had every side effect that the drug company listed along with a few more I don't think were listed. For a 'narcotic' I have found that it not that easy and even possible to be addicted to it. On a rare day when I don't take it, I don't get the signs of "withdrawal; panic when I can't get it; I don't tear up my home looking for one" It works well for me in controlling the constant pain from the Fibromyalgia. I can't put into words the relief I have found in Nucynta; in my case I have not suffered any side effects. On the down side is the expense; even with insurance the copay on the drug is expensive, without insurance my prescription would be at least $500/ mo. Best of luck to all of you who take it and hope that it works well for you. Read More Read Less

I spent 11 days in the hospital due to Small Bowel Resection surgery and nothing they gave me there helped. I tried dilaudid (caused memory loss), Norco (caused extreme itchiness and agitation) and morphine (pain returned in 20 minutes) with various combinations for break through pain. It wasn't until I was discharged that I started taking Nucynta and experienced pain relief/control. only side effect I experienced was a floating like feeling and dry mouth. for me, Nucynta 100mg 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours has been like finding gold...my pain is finally under control. As with all medication, there are side effects, risks and effectiveness varies from 1 individual to another. Glad to be on the road to recovery with a pain medication that I can trust to work.Read More Read Less
