I am a chronic pain suffer for over 20 years. Last 5 yrs spent taking oxycontin, percocet & lortab on top of celebrex. I have had 9 surgeries in 12 years and my pain is from arthritis and true nerve damage in my neck and low spine. This drug is doing wonders for my pain. I am starting on the 50mg 6x a day like everyone else. Today is a month of treatment and I have noticed far less pain. I guess...

After a month of use, 100mg., it like other pain meds caused my feet and legs to swell and made my breathing labored. It took 2 days for my body to eliminate all the water and swelling.

I was put on this for breakthrough pain and at first it made me really high then it constipated me more than I've ever been and I've been on every kind of Narcotic you can think of since 1987, from Tylenol3's up to Morphine ER, Fentynl and beyond. But this stuff is different because they try to sell it as a non narcotic when it is a narcotic., if you were just put on it, I very highly recommend you ask for a prescription laxative or get something like Miralax don't get anything with a stimulant because you're going to have to take it the whole time you're on the meds. Pain-wise Nucynta didn't do a very good job at first and it was a fortune to fill, once I finally got my doctor and insurance together they approved it the price went way down. But it really didn't work very well and once I had been taking Nucynta for a while the breakthrough pain in my leg with RSD just got worse and my Trigeminal Neuralgia got worse so my doc doubled the dose and it doped me up with my gabapentin what ended it for be was about 3 years in I started feeling zingy, or speedy and I told a doctor that I thought it's the Nuycnta and he picked up the phone and called the head pharmacist of the hospital I was at, trust me on this hospital, it's one of the Really Biggies, anyway the pharmacist agreed with me that it can make people feel like that, and with that I threw my pill bottle away and said I want this taken off my list as a every 4-6 hrs add as as needed never took it again.Read More Read Less

the first day I took it, it made me nauseated, dizzy and sleepy as suggested by the side effects. However it did not do anything for my pain. It did cause me to not be hungry and feel like I had restless leg syndrome when I tried to rest. All in all, not effective for anything except a quick high which is not what I need.

I started to take nucynta 100mg because my insurance would not fill my regular OxyContin 40 time release ! My dr.prescribled this one. I started taking it on a Thursday morning I took them as prescribed! By the time Saturday got here I was sick as a dog!! Diarrhea stomach pain could not eat anything for days! In all I took 6 pills over 3days! This med was nothing like what my body was use to it put me in withdrawal symptoms! Terrible body pain!!! Could not sleep either ! On Monday I got back in to see my dr. (Pain Center) it took insurance days to get my regular meds back! Insurance is a rip off they are the reason I had to take nucynta in the first place! If any one of you has to try this drug I fel bad for you! Read More Read Less

Have used this for five years and found this medication to be an effective pain reliever. Definitely best taken with food, and it is expensive even with insurance.

Began taking Nucynta when I realized I was starting to crave hydrocodone even when not in pain. Started on 50 mg but found better relief at 75 mg. No craving when not in pain. Had a little bit of an overall feeling of "wellbeing" but not the same euphoria I feel on other opiods. Excellent pain relief and I've never developed a tolerance to it and I've been taking the same dose for almost 3 years. I've not found anything else even half as effective. I don't have the same GI sluggishness I have on other opioid medications either. My only complaints are: it was a pain to get it at first as local pharmacies didn't keep it in stock. I was able to get my local pharmacy to stock it for me by having my doctor call and tell them I'd be taking it long terms so if you have problems getting it, consider taking the same course so you don't have to wait for them to order it and be without pain control in the mean time. There is no generic and we have a HDHP so it is insanely expensive when my insurance year rolls over and we have to meet the deductible again. This would not be an option if I was self-pay. At least high prescription drug costs help me meet the deductible faster but I look forward to a generic in the future to help control my medical spending. The cost is the most irritating thing about the medication as drugs like oxy and hydro contain really high addiction potential but are affordable. Nucynta, which does not make me feel high or altered, has a much lower addiction potential but is financially out of reach for a lot of chronic pain patients. If I ever lost my group insurance coverage, there would be no way to afford Nucynta on my own. Read More Read Less

Nucynta side effects are better than experiencing the high feeling of other narcotics that are like riding a roller coaster of highs between dosages Nucynta relieves 80% of the pain during the day. Began w/50mg 3X w/gabapentin,diclofenac, tizanidine Oral. Current Nucynta 100mg 4x. One minor side effects of short term memory loss began w/ 75mg and became moderately sever w/100mg. Constantly experiencing delays getting Nucynta filled at any FL pharmacies. Delays caused by pharmacies not stocking Nucynta to biweekly deliveries of narcotics from narcotic suppliers & FDA limits imposed on FL pharmacies. No problem filling Nucynta prescriptions outside of FL. 12 yrs ago I began to have sever nerve pain / numbness on right side (neck, shoulder, arm & hand). Diagnosed w/pinched nerves & narrowing of the neck spinal cord T2&T3 / T5&T6 along with sever degenerative disk disease / bone spurs.Read More Read Less

Lower back pain, complications to bilateral knee replacement were not controlled with tramadol. This drug has helped so much more. Takes 90 %. Of the pain away for 2.5-3.5 hrs. Helping a lot but was unable to get easily in a drug store in fla. had to get a drug rep involved to find the 10th drug store that had the drug

I suffer with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome, a degenerative disc in my neck, early stage osteo-athritis, and fibromyalgia. I have been on this medication since 2012. I take 50mg every four hours (5 to 6 pills per day) average 250mg per day. I have had short term memory loss, darkened urine, confusion, shallow breathing, continued constipation, and horseness. I also take 3 Peri-colace tablets a day or no bowel movement. I tried going six to seven hours without this medication and that was horrific at best. I hurt like an addict, runny nose, confusion, sadness, depression and irritability. I felt so bad that I HAD to go back to every four hours in order to gain control of myself and to feel normal again. I am afraid of the dependency and want to stop but I am afraid to tell my doctor for fear of getting no medication. I am on disability so I lay in bed 80% of the time and make plans that I never carry out and continuously tell myself I will do it tomorrow. What a mess!!!! Now starting to have issues with my vision. What do I do!!!!Read More Read Less

I have disc degenerative disease. Had neck surgery in 09 and 3 months later had disc in lower back collapse. Have multiple bulging discs in lower back and more in neck. No surgery for what's wrong with my back and they won't do my neck due to location of brackets due to previous surgery. Was on hydro 10's 4x a day for many years. Went on Nuycenta ER, Oct. 2014 started at 150 and went to 250 before getting pain relief. I knew their were side effects so dealt with that the first month (extreme tiredness to the point couldn't get off couch, dizziness, lethargy)After that seemed to pass tolerated side effects fairly well. The problem I had was my sugar went over 300! And my cholesterol was off the charts and my blood pressure went up also! I had managed these well enough with diet previously without any medication! Been off it for about 6 months and they are finally coming down, had to go on 2 diabetes meds to get it down and a statin, and bp meds. it did work for pain but the side effects are horrendous! Now on oxycotin 10mg 3x a day. And that has been working. I have some liver problems from being on Motrin 800mg 3x a day for about 20 years and cannot take NSAIDS, and they were concerned the acetaminophen was hurting my liver so wanted me off the hydro. I will never take the Nucynta again! I am still dealing with the side effects! And no as some have suggested on here I don't take it for the 'buzz'. It actually doesn't have that effect on me. Other than making me a little draggy feeling. I had problems with tramodal making my heart race, so maybe it is the tapentadol that effects me this way. Just wondered if anyone else had this experience? If you are on it make sure you are monitoring all the other things!Read More Read Less

This medication was prescribed for nerve pain, not related to diabetes. It hasn't helped at all, and has caused some really scary confusion. I got lost driving a route that I drive every week. I've also experienced some of the worst dry mouth I've ever had, loss of short term memory, drowsiness, and muscle

I have been taking this drug for 2 weeks now .I just wanted control of my pain.Instead I have the pain controlling me.The worst side effect besides dry mouth seems to be joint and muscle pain. These side effects weren't listed but I didn't have this problem until I started taking it.I will ask to try something different.

Nucynta was prescribed as an alternative to Morphine 100mg SR BD which I was taking for 15+yrs with no increase and excellent pain relief. Due to people selling and abusing medication doctors where I live want everyone off it and are happy to prescribe Nucynta as for what my experience shows this provided little pain relief and made me feel like I had the flu. I find it hard to believe this has made it so far into the public domain with so many bad side effects. Unbelievable! When will doctors ever learn that we are individuals - and quality of the individuals life is whats at stake. Please - more regulation on opiate use to identify those who dont abuse it and find it "just works" please and stop treating us like damn addicts... [As if Nucynta isnt addictive]. I just want to keep on living reatively pain free without having to justify what works. How dare they give me medication that has no bad side effects like Morphine to just take it away because they cant regulate it dispensing and use properly. if you enjoy taking your medicine it seems it must be bad for you! - if you dont like taking it they think it must be working!Read More Read Less

I have loose stool to diarrhea, if miss a dose pain returns and is intense! I have both neuropathy, back inj, body pain from fall, phantom pain from amputation. When all of these combine they exceed the 10/10 pain scale to excruciating pain to where I would not wish upon any creature on this planet....this medication along w/gabapentin help me deal w/this trauma.

I was given 50 mg of Nucynta for nerve pain from work injuries. I have burning pain in both legs feet arms hands. I took two little bites off the 50 mg tab after coming home from the pharmacy and I laid down to sleep. I could not sleep, I started having crazy dreams, hallucinations, terrible headache, increased pain and I was a nervous wreck. I went to work the next day and the pain was double plus I was irritable, emotional hearing voices, just from two little bites. I will never take this again. I still take Lyrica and it makes me sleepy and gain weight but it takes away the burning cutting pain so I can sleep.Read More Read Less
