Have been taking this medication for a long time, 50mg. My blood pressure got much better and it began dropping to low so I started taking only 1/2 a pill and it stays at a great level.

I was prescribed Atenolol for high blood pressure, which has not been a real issue until I became pregnant w/ my first child, 5 years ago. I have had 3 kids since & the HBP seemed to be situational. I have severe headaches that are caused by a brain tumor. Because of where it is located, we decided that it is too risky to do anything. So after trying many different meds, I was put on Atenolol, I have experienced tremendous reduction in my pain. The only negative effect is some insomnia.

I have been on Atenolol for years, and I am happy with it and haven't had any adverse side effects. I weighed 236 Lbs. when I started taking Atenolol, I weigh 128 now. My blood pressure was 174/156 when I first started taking Atenolol, it now runs in the upper 1teens over mid 70's. I couldn't be happier.

I used to suffer from frequent migraines, like several each month. This drug has greatly reduced the number of occurances. Now I get only a few each year. It does take a while for this drug to work so you may need to be on it for a while before you notice a reduction in the number/frequency and severity of the headaches.

I have been on this drug for 8 years for tachycardia. It has been mostly effective with the exception of a year and a half when it stopped working, but going back on it it has controlled my heart rate effectively for the past 3 years with no issues whatsoever. It has a LOT less side effects than other beta blockers. It does cause me to be very very tired, cold hands and feet, dizziness, and nausea but none of them are particularly severe enough to stop making me take it. Made me very tired during the day so am now taking it at night, still not sure if it has caused my hair to thin out or not,I did notice my hair thinning when I started taking it though, however it is very effective at lowering my blood pressure and slowing down my very rapid heartbeat.

I have been taking Atenolol for 10 yrs. My MD recently raised my dosage to 100 mg/day from 50 mg. My BP dropped for a couple of weeks & now is back to 167/73.
