This drug has worked fabulously for controlling my daughter's asthma. HOWEVER,it's side effects have been a nightmare. Began taking it after 3rd birthday, would not longer sleep in her bed, up numerous times /night, horrible temper tantrums, weepy, moody/irritable. Everyone thought she was just "going through a phase." Docs assured me could not be because of meds. They increased her dosage when s...
I haven't taken singulair yet I am reading on it before I asked my doctor about it.

Scared to death. My daughter started taking Singulair at age 9, and tried to commit suicide at age 12. Take the warnings seriously until they dis-prove them.

My seven year old daughter has been on singular for 5 years, we recentley upped her dose to 5 mg before bed. She has become very sensitive at home and at school as well as developing a pattern of perfection, often taking hours to accomplish a 15 minute writing assignment at school. She also started using words and phrases like nobody loves me and I wish I was dead. We are going to be taking her off after visit back to her ped. Thank God I read this info that helped me make this connection!!!!! Read More Read Less

My 8 yr old son has been on Singulair Chew Tabs approx 2 years. He has the asthma that has no wheezing just the asthma sounding cough. I have been somewhat satisfied. It sure helped him not to get "that cough" when he got colds. I have decided to try and take him off to see if it made a difference in his mood. His mood has drastically changed for the better. His moods were very crabby and very sensitive(touchy)over anything. I am giving him Clartin for now. I read the side effects of Singulair but did not see anything about mood changes. Has anyone else noticed this in their child?Read More Read Less

I highly recommend Singulair for allgeries over Zertec and Claritin. It's extremely easy for my 2 year old to take and the results are great. I'm glad his pediatrician switched him to Singulair.

Our pedicatrician prescribed this to our 2 daughters, ages 2 and 3. I cliekd on one condtition but they have all. Inflammation of the nose, runny noses etc. I = had difficult pregnancies with picc lines and many medications, they were born via c-section and with terrible allergies, I had to nurse as they were allergic to everything, I also had to watch what I ate. After abut a week on Singlulair 4mg, both children's noses stopped running and be stuffed up. They were not pulling at there ears, not crying for itching, no rashes, no wheezing. I tired giving this at night but it made them stay up(I cannot prove it was Singulair), after trying the day time no problems and they still took naps. They can play outside and even eat certain foods now. My husband and I are very happy. Other medications we tried with no success Benadryl (they are only 18 and 27 pounds so the dose was small and still made them tired and grumpy), Claritan (allergic reaction), Zyrtec, Tylenol Allergy.. Thank you Singular, as a stay at home mom, I was tired of seeing them upset and suffering!Read More Read Less

I am 27 years old and have had asthma since i was 7 months old. I have avery severe form of asthma with several triggers. Singulair is the first maintenance medication i have ever taken that reduces my bronchospasms greatly! Excellent medication for severe cases.

I've been taking Singulair for almost a week now...I used to take just OTc 10 mg claritin, but it wasn't enough, so now I take that in the morning, and singulair at night. The only real side effect I have noticed is extremely vivid dreams (not necessarily nightmares) that stay with me all the next day.

I grew out of asthma years ago, started having trouble exercising outside when it was less than 40 degrees. Very tight chest and a shallow hack-cough, but not much wheezing. Singular seesm to help a bit, as does nightly prescription nasal spray, but I believe it is making me sleep TOO many hours, and giving me nightmares. I'm currently taking a month-long break to see if the problems to away.

My doctor prescribed singular to treat my asthma that seemed to be getting worst. I also suffer from severe allergies and have taken all kinds of medications in the past to treat them. Singular works for both and my quality of life has improved greatly.
