I HAVE BEEN TAKING THIS DRUG FOR 9 MONTHS. IN THE BEGINNING IT CAUSED A HEADACHE WHICH IT MADE HARD TO SLEEP. I TALKED TO MY DOCTOR AND HE CUT THE DOSAGE IN HALF. THE HEADACHE SUBSIDED AND AFTER 3 MONTHS I WENT BACK TO NORMAL DOSAGE AND HAVE BEEN WITHOUT HEADACHE SINCE. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY OF MY CHEST PAIN WHAT SO EVER AND HIGHLY RECOMENED THIS DRUG.

Ranolazine did nothing..... isosorbide mononitrate works for me 60 mg in the morning. Atanolol 25 at night.

Headache most of the day, can only take tylenol, does make headache dull, but does not go away. Unsure why I am taking it, no chest pain. Was short of breath, but now it is worse, since starting to take this med. Not sure if I will stay on this med!

The chest pains are much better. Considering my current kidney issues this is really the only option I have for right now. As soon as these issues are cleared up I'll be changing medications. The head aches are Completely Debilitating! Might as well be a migraine, lights, sounds and movement are all difficult to handle. No pain med helps, not Tylenol or even Norco. Head ache lasts up to 12 hours, sometimes a little less with food and Extra water.

I am a 70 year old male with high blood pressure and 3 stents. Prior to the last 2 stents I was experiencing chest pain during normal exercise and was told to take angina medication and lose weight. I went to a different doctor who performed angioplasty and discovered that I had over 90 percent blockage in the widow maker and was surprised I was alive. I was given 2 stents but still experienced chest pain. My primary care doctor prescribed Isosorbide Mononitrate and it was a game changer. No chest pain or side effects. I take all of my medication right before bedtime. Maybe I'd have headaches if I took it in the morning, maybe I sleep right through them - who knows. What I do know is that a lot of heart attacks happen in the morning and I'd rather be medicated from the night before than not. Highly recommend.Read More Read Less

Regarding isosorbide - I first took Ranolazine and had an overall great experience. No more angina, slept better and could exercise more (brisk walks) I only stopped due to getting tinnitus and trying to rule out this drug. My tinnitus did not go away so it was not these meds (Covid, HBP or loss of high pitch hearing) who really knows. I was off the meds for 3 months and the angina returned. I went back to my cardiologist who decided to try me on ISOSORBIDE. He said I may have headaches but Tylenol should help and it takes the drug a couple weeks for the body to adjust. What a mistake!! After the first pill( twice a day dose) I had a severe headache in 2 hours. Tylenol did not help at all. I was so tired with no energy. The second day was no better and I had nausea and did not want anything to eat. The water even had a weird taste. The third day I was miserable and out of breath going up the steps. I kept the headache and nausea non-stop. This all occurred over a weekend. The first thing Monday morning I called and said I had stopped taking. I was told to give it a while longer in which I replied I would not. I mentioned going back on the Ranolazine after this horrid drug leaves my system and it was agreed. I only hope I still have the same great experience with that one. I know all bodies are different and it depends on what other meds you may be taking but this drug was horrific for me. I have only taken this medicine a few days and the headaches are totally debilitating. Despite being thankful for working from home, it has been impossible to get in a full day of work. The headaches are throbbing and are exacerbated whenever I move my head around. These headaches last all day long even if I try to sleep it off. Taking a Tylenol doesn't help either. I believe it has helped with my breathlessness and the burning feeling in my chest and throat upon exertion but I simply cannot function with these headaches. These side effects are worse than the symptoms I am taking the medicine for. I hope there is something else to help me.Read More Read Less

OK, I just started taking this medication, initially I felt unsteady on my feet but that subsided, headache that Tylenol took care of and chest pains "partially" subsided. With continued use I hope all side affects go away.

Horrible experience. I have fainted over 5 times. Quit taking it after the 5th time after reading fainting was a side effect. I was having a difficult time reaching my docs. There Has to be something better

I started taken this med a long time ago (30) mg. Then i had a serious attack of angina which landed me in the hospital. Upon discharge, my doctor prescribed 30 mg, 2 tabs 3 times a day. The headache I can manage, but the nausea and vomiting is 24/7. Has anyone else had this experience?
