Started seroquel 3 weeks ago and am now finding no mood swings, less anxiety and less racing thoughts. Terrific. Taken at night I can even sleep through the night!

My doctor was afraid that my 30 year use of Haldol would produce uncontrollable facial movements. She prescribed increasing doses of seroquel, ending at 200 mg per day. After a few weeks I developed targives diskenesia with drastic lip and tonque thrusting as well as leg thrusting. My wife reported this to the doctor who was sure that this would abate after I used seroquel for a period of time. Luckily my wife looked up diskenesia on the web and found that it could become permanent. After a few more weeks of symptoms she insisted that the doctor return me to haldol. In a matter of days the Targive symptoms started to disappear. I am no longer going to change my effective treatments for new drugs pushed by ill informed doctors.Read More Read Less

I have severe tnnitus ,a high pitched sound 24/7. Along with Labyrinthitis for the past 22 months. I cannot sleep because of the loud sounds .I have been on almost every drug to help me sleep. My Dr. started me on Seroquel 100mg. along with 15 mg. Flurazepam I just had 2 nights of sleep, then 2 nights of on and off sleep. I had 1 full week of no sleep at all in May,when we tried Rozerum. I was so sleep deprived I could not even stand up on my own. Being only 102 lbs. and 48 yrs. old I want something to work for me. It has been really hard on my husband and our 2 children. My Dr. says we might have to up the dose to 200mg. to sleep. I can only hope a larger dose will do it for me. It is so hard to function when you are sleep deprived. I have done vestibular rehab therapy with a physical therapist for the past 20 months. My vertigo and dizzy, nausea, and walking and normal daily life has changed drastically.Symptoms are worse with less sleep, I hate living this way, but it could be worse, so I need to try just about anything.Hypnosis didn't work either.Read More Read Less

I use this for chronic insomnia at 100mg and have been on it about 3 years. I started at 50mg but needed a dose increase after about 1.5 years. I've noticed that 100mg still puts me to sleep but doesn't give me that "whoa" feeling when it kicks in like it used to, and also takes longer to kick in. But it still works for me when nothing else has. I tried ambien at 10mg but it took 50mg (over the course of a few hours) to barely put me to sleep for 4 hours. I also tried trazedone which had the opposite effect, and some samples of Lunesta which were too weak. Given all this I'm not even going to bother with Rozerem. NOTHING puts me to sleep and keeps me asleep like Seroquel. It has been a lifesaver. I've gained a little weight but that's because when the drowsy kicks in, hunger kicks in as well (side effect). But I'm just lazy and give in to the hunger without considering other options to curb the hunger, or consuming less fattening foods before sleep. Note to people reading this for insomnia! Most general practitioners have little/no experience with this drug, and won't feel at all comfortable prescribing it for insomnia (let alone what it's intended for). You will most likely need to see a psychiatrist for a Rx. To a psychiatrist, this drug at a low dose (~100mg which is plenty to sleep for most people) is no big deal to them. I never heard of this when it was prescribed to me so I did some searching on google. I read some horror stories with the drug (mostly weight gain) and didn't even want to take it but when it knocked me out the first night, I haven't skipped a night since. Most of the horror stories you'll find are the exception and not the rule. Talk to your psychiatrist and they will most likely confirm this.Read More Read Less

I've had bipolar for as long as I can remember, I've been on every drug the Dr's could give me. THis is the Only Drug I feel like myself on. I hate to have to take meds, but I DO NOT feel like a zombie on it. The first time I start taking it, I was Super hungry for sweets, that goes away after 2 weeks. Plus it doesnt affect my sex drive like the others do. :)

This Medication is supposed to calm you and put you in control of yourself and it did the exact opposite for me. It made me hallucinate and hear things. It made me shake and scared the hell out of me. I also tried to smother my husband because I thought that he had kidnapped me!!

I'm having mixed feelings about seroquel and remeron since I was taking both at the same time. I gained so much weight, my cholesterol hit the roof and I also started loosing my hair. It did help my to keep me stable and helped me sleep (although taking 200mg of seroquel and 60 mg of remeron is probably enough to put a horse's light out). Sorry but the side effects have been a bit much and too stressfull for me to handle.

This medication almost killed my mom. The medication claims that it will decrease halunciation, provide the user with a sense of control. Well all the things this medicine said it claims to decrease, well for my mom they increased and I was terrified.

I was in a research trial with Seroquel and Depakote. The combination probably saved my life. My concerns with Seroquel are the potential side effects and I think that it mixes badly with alcohol. I've had several experiences of complete loss of memory from having just a few drinks and I think that I've narrowed it down to Seroquel. If I have to choose between life or martinis, I'll choose life!

Works wonders for sleep. When I was taking 2 25mg every 2 hours, I was in a zombie-like state.

I would like to see what dosage others are taking! My 8 year old son takes 500mg. He is diagnosed with Mood Disorder NOS and ADHD. He is also on Focalin XR which makes him not eat all day so I give him Seroquel in the evening and he eats for 2 hours staight. He does not have a weight problem, actually he is a bit below average. The dose I give him makes him lethagic (it is meant to) so he can sleep. The med is also supposed to help curve his impulsivity and aggresiveness, which it does seem to do well.Read More Read Less

I noticed about one month after usage that I began having night sweats and tingling in my hands and feet.I like this medication otherwise. It also makes me drowsy first thing in the mornig. Better than taking three different meds. I like taking just one now.

I didnt notice a bipolar problem but my doctor thought I should try this medication. I noticed a HUGE change after 3 days of using it. I like not being angry all the time and it helps me cope with a very stressful sales job. I dont like the weight gain part of the medication, but a little more excercise doesnt hurt anyone and actually helps with the stress.
